Huntsville, Ontario

Town of Huntsville
I love this town. It’s like a small Hood river. Clearly, it’s prosperous and energetic and very pretty. So far, as we’ve crossed Canada, all the towns seem to be on rivers or lakes and Huntsville is no exception with a lazily flowing river winding through town. It is clearly in a center of a tourist area with lots of water attractions around (like fishing, boating, etc.). We passed several summer camps and this interesting children’s fun park on our way to Huntsville. I’m not sure what the winters are like, but summer is hoping.
Like many other Canadian towns, Huntsville is also replete with murals. Perhaps this is a way to add culture to towns while also making them look lovely. The Huntsville murals (I’ve attached some) are quite well done. Some were still in progress as we walked the town. I couldn’t find out the genesis for these murals but I am going to keep looking. It does make the town look lovely. The town is older, perhaps established at the turno f the century with old churches and large well-kept brick homes overlooking the river (reminds me somewhat of the old Mississippi towns back in their heyday). On the edges are the usual strip mall like places, but down town has lots of shopping, eating, etc.
