A nice day in Quebec City. The boys (Rakesh and Justin) wanted to stay in the B&B and play DS but I insisted they go out (Mary and Asha stayed back). We walked down the main drag Rue St. Jean on the way to a shooting demonstration. We got to the park and then it started to rain. We stood under trees for about 20 minutes. When it was time for the shooting demonstration, no one was around. We asked a person dressed in French uniform of 1600s and he said the demonstration was at 2pm (not 1:15 as we had been informed). With time to spare we went to the open stage where a band was playing Rap/Jazz and Rock/Jazz. They were pretty good! When it was close 2pm we moved back to the park and I sat down. The boys wandered off and had an adventure. They met Hobos that urinated against walls! What a story to tell! They returned just in time to see the demonstration. It was OK, a bit too much talking but when the soldier fired a round in the air, they loved it (as did the crowd). After that we started walking towards the museum or so we thought. As we walked down the main drag, the boys saw a shop with swords so we had to go in. They were enthralled! Given the protective walls around the city that look like "Helms Deep", it makes sense that the city has three shops catering to those that love medieval times.
After the shops we continued our walk until we hit one of the walls of the city. No museum. Apparently, the museum is on a street below the walls. So no museum but the cannons along the walls were very entertaining as was the park. Perhaps better than a museum. We decided to return. On the way back, we stumbled on a couple of street entertainers that were really good. After they grand finale of juggling swords and fire batons, we continued home. But wait another shop with swords! We had to stop and we did. On the way back we also bought some food. All in all a really good day.
